What is a gamer?
Some believe
that a Gamer is anyone who enjoys playing video games, even casual video games.
However, subscribing to this definition amounts to saying that anyone who
watches movies is a movie buff and that anyone who eats is a food enthusiast.
That would be ridiculous because, literally, most people living in
non-impoverished situations would be considered moviegoers, food enthusiasts
and gamers; the terms would become virtually insignificant. So what is a gamer?
Most agree
that true gamers enjoy more than just casual games. For example, few people who
play Angry Birds or Tetris for five hours a day would call themselves gamers
with a serious face.

These
critically acclaimed games in general, not always, have a very compelling and
involved history, and immersive graphics, sound design and musical score. I'm a
fan of Garry Schyman, so here is an example of a good musical score of (for me)
one of the best video games that exist:
Comparing this video game with another informal browser
is similar to comparing a complete dramatic movie with a 30-second commercial.
That is why many prefer the strictest definition of gamer. In the same way that
people like to differentiate between people who watch movies and movie fans,
and between people who eat and food lovers, we like to differentiate between
people who play video games and gamers. It is perhaps a bit complicated to
understand, especially if you are not a complete gamer.
It is clear that a gamer is someone who, apart from
playing video games, delves into the subject. He knows what music appears in
the game, investigates the developers, knows more details about the video game
in question than someone who simply opens the game and enjoys it.
Contrary to popular belief, the purpose of this
distinction is not to gloat over an ivory tower of elitism and say “you are not
a true player,” but rather to reduce the likelihood of someone thinking that
casual games are all there is. to games, in an effort to encourage people to
discover a world of incredible video games that most don't even know exist.
